Continuous design and renovation services for the existing Scottsdale Conference Resort were provided from 1984 to 1999. Design/new construction services included a fully-equipped fitness center; 66 guest rooms and suites; the Arizona, Papago, and Maricopa rooms; Grand Coronado Ballroom; and Sunset Pavilion. The 6,084 sq. ft. Arizona Room houses one of the resort’s three rear-screen projectors and accommodates banquets for up to 505 guests or conferences for up to 605 guests in theatre-style seating. The Sunset Pavilion offers a dramatic outdoor setting for up to 600 guests. Further, a 14,000 sq. ft., one-story, freestanding ballroom facility was designed to replace the site of the three existing tennis courts.

Renovation services included courtside casitas and media room. While blending the new architecture seamlessly with existing, it was important to use materials and equipment that would sustain life-cycle dependability. In addition, it was necessary to be cognizant of the sustainability requirements of the City of Scottsdale, specifically with respect to landscape and water usage.
